Protocol
Disuse atrophy, level 1:
weeks 1 – 2.
Disuse Atrophy, level 2: weeks 3 to 6 - 8.

Treatment frequency
Three times a week for six to eight weeks. Then, maintenance of what has been achieved at a rate of one session every two weeks.
|
Patient position
The patient is placed barefoot in a standing position; his weight is on the inside of the foot to combat the movement caused by the electrically induced contraction.
|
|
Electrode positions
Use one stimulation channel. The live electrode (the smallest one) is placed under the head of fibula where the lateral popliteal nerve passes. The negative electrode (large) is placed crosswise at mid-height on the outer surface of the leg.
